It rains for 4 years, 11 months, 2 days straight; when it ends people celebrate in the streets. During the storm, AS would travel from Petra's house to the Buendia Home. He lost a lot weight because of the walking, also he fixed up the house. AS sons realizes that he is old, because when he thinks of Petra he does not quiver. Ursula has become increasingly sickly, and is reaching her end, she predicts that after the rain ends she will die. AS returns to Petra house to find all the live stock dead and also sees Petra has old and dreary. Well, the only people having fun are little Aureliano and Amaranta Ursula. They play in the rain and puddles, in spite of Fernanda strictness. Ursula starts to confuse the children in the house with her kids. She also starts to see ghost. AS interrogates Ursula for the location of the gold, but she will "carry the secret to her grave". He hies digger to search for the gold in the house. He goes to Pilar for help, "she
