In Chapter 6 we told of the Colonel's campaign. He was not very successful in his campaign. All 32 of his battles, he is defeated. However, he has 17 children all by different women. Oddly, most of his children die at the celebration of the eldest child's birthday. The Colonel, who survived 14 assassination attempts, is finally captured. Ursula visits him in prison, she feels for her son and tries to get him released. He is sentenced to death by firing squad, but is saved by Jose II. Jose II rides in with a shotgun and shoots his way throw the guards. Setting his brother free he joins the uprising. However he dies mysteriously, leaving his now large family behind.
